Hills District Orchids hold four seasonal Open Days throughout the year. These have proved very popular for both orchid enthusiasts and general plant lovers for filling the niche that has been left after the closure of several previous full-time retail specialist nurseries in the Sydney Region. The informal atmosphere provides an ideal opportunity to discuss and purchase plants and observe first-hand their growing conditions. There are numerous experts on hand to provide advice and answer any orchid & plant-related questions.

As there is no parking at the nursery, please park in either Mary Street or Windermere Avenue. It’s only a very short walk past a few houses. Windsor Road is also on the main bus route between Parramatta and Baulkham Hills/Castle Hill. Westbus Operate from Parramatta railway station. To plan your trip on public transport visit www.131500.info

Tinonee Orchid Nursery www.tinoneeorchids.com (Ray Clement) and Macquarie Native Orchids (Michael Harrison) generally attend all of our Open Days, and look forward to seeing them in 2021.

Many different types of orchids will be on sale during the day, Australian native and exotic species and hybrids, collectable plants including various exclusive colour forms of Clivia miniata, a new range of Billbergia and Neoregelia bromeliad cultivars (some from our own breeding) plus Orchid Accessories from Tinonee including Bark & Potting Mix, “Orchidmate©”, Hangers, Pots, Fertiliser, Cork, Treefern, Easy Clips, Labels etc.

Hills District Orchids (David Banks) also attends as a vendor at the following premier events:

* Collector’s Plant Fair www.collectorsplantfair.com , held
@ Hawkesbury Race Course, Clarendon April 2021
* St. Ives Orchid Fair @ St. Ives Showground August 2021

We have also been listing select clivias and orchids (including some from Ray Clement/Tinonee Orchids) on eBay under my sellers name of voix109

Growers and propagators of selected easily grown Australian and Exotic Species Orchids and their Hybrids for shadehouses and gardens.

Breeders of a full range of colours and styles of the latest elite showbench style forms of Clivia miniata. Our Clivia seed is in demand around the world. David Banks has spoken within Australia and also New Zealand and the United States of America on hybridising, judging and cultivating clivias. He has been breeding clivias for over two decades and has produced many prize and award winning plants, as well as superior cultivars for the garden. His collection is regarded as one of (if not the) most complete and diverse inventories of clivias in Australia. Over 90% of his plants he has grown from seed, and over half of these being of plants he bred himself. That’s why such a high percentage of these clivias are not available elsewhere.

See our OPEN DAYS page for latest updates on events.
